Day 12: Journaling for Authors

Did you know that journaling can help you meet your goals? It really can. Many people equate journals with those diaries that most girls keep as kids. While the concept is similar, as you write down your thoughts, you aren’t required to use a pink, puffy-sticker covered notebook as your journal. Any type of notebook will do. Here’s how keeping a journal will make sure that you stay on track:

Choosing a Journaling Medium

You can keep your journal in any way that you’d like. Some people prefer to write down their thoughts in a word document or start a blog where they can share their progress with others. Some other people like to make things a bit more private, so they choose a notebook and write things down with their favorite pen. You can even use a fancy goal-setting book or anything that you choose. All that matters is that you take the steps necessary for completing your goal while writing them down in your journal at the same time.

Why Keep A Journal?

Changing your life, one goal at a time is not a simple process. You’ll no doubt come up with a number of different thoughts about it while you’re making steps towards meeting that goal. These thoughts might be negative, in which case you need to write them down in order to think through them properly. They might be positive thoughts, which are worth recording because they could help you through your next stalemate or bad moment.

  • Journalling nightly helps me sleep better as my mind knows I can check it the next day if needed. I seldom need to. When stressed I write more but I want to get back into the habit of writing in it daily again. Sometimes I also use my journal to figure out what I want to do in my writing it helps sort out my ideas into a useable form.
